Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does a postpartum doula do?

A postpartum doula is a trained non-medical professional who supports new parents with infant care, feeding, sleep guidance, and emotional steadiness, helping families move from survival mode into a sustainable daily rhythm.

2. Is virtual postpartum doula support as effective as in-person care?

Virtual postpartum doula support is highly effective for feeding, sleep, and emotional guidance. Families get video calls, messaging access, and weekly personalized feedback through the DouLand app.

3. When should I book a postpartum doula?

Booking during pregnancy, ideally the second or third trimester, secures your preferred doula for your due date. DouLand also prioritizes postpartum families who reach out after birth, matching you with a doula based on scheduling.

4. How do I know which virtual package is right for my family?

Your free 15-minute consultation handles the choice. Our team will ask about your baby and biggest challenges, then recommend Soothing Start, Flow Finder, or Sleep Shift based on fit.

5. How much does a postpartum doula cost?

DouLand virtual packages are built across a range of budgets, with Klarna, Affirm, and Afterpay payment plans available. San Francisco Bay Area overnight in-person care is priced by hours and nights booked.

6. What if I need more support than I thought?

You’re always welcome to upgrade your package! If you start with a one-time session and realize you’d like more ongoing support, we’ll credit your initial consultation toward a longer package if upgraded within 7 days.

7. Do you support partners or co-parents too?

Absolutely. We believe postpartum care is for the whole family unit. You’re welcome to include your partner or support person in any session.

8. Who is DouLand’s Newborn Care Training Package for?

This package is designed for nannies, grandparents, or other caregivers who will be supporting a family with an infant (0–12 months). It’s especially helpful for those new to infant care or those who want to build confidence and consistency in daily routines.

This package includes:

  •  A 90-minute virtual session with a DouLand specialist
  • Training in infant care: feeding, sleep, soothing, diapering, and safe handling
  • Guidance on your family’s specific rhythm
9. Are these consultations interactive?

Yes! The training is personal and interactive—not a lecture. Your DouLand consultant will walk through examples, invite questions, and provide tips based on your family’s needs and caregiving style. It’s a collaborative, supportive space.
